Time for research and writing!

The last couple of days have turned into a very research-full experience and a little less clinical exposure. As a team, we have been focusing on developing new projects and on getting the existing ones going. In addition, we have an FDA specialist working with us for a while to help us with his expertise on the projects dealing with different devices and platforms used for the procedures.

Since the project comparing PIRADS 1 and 2 will be taking a couple of semesters for its completion, I am focusing more on a new project comparing different HIFU techniques in the medical field now. HIFU is widely used as one of the most successful treatments for prostate cancer. HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound and it is used for ablation of prostate in patients with prostate cancer. Therefore, a good comparison between the FDA approved techniques for HIFU will be well appreciated by the field. As a result, this week has been a time to pile as much information as possible to get started on the new project!
